Designated Midwifery Officers (DMO)
Designated Midwifery Officers (DMO) are the HSE liaison officers for women who wish to sign up for a home birth. A DMO will review your application for home birth and towards the end of your pregnancy may visit you in your home and give your your birth pack. Your midwife will liaise with her about your case as your pregnancy progresses. She is effectively your gatekeeper to a home birth and may also advocate on your behalf with your local maternity hospital.
If you have any issues or complaints about the Home Birth Service in your area then you should write directly to your DMO and cc firstname.lastname@example.org .
